Dear Bloggy,
Oh my, in restaurant news, you have got to come and check out this new thing we've got here. It's the most fun addition to Morning Glory since I joined the team. A great big yellow tricycle that Hannah is going to ride back and forth between Morning Glory and the Mercury to make muffin deliveries. I just rode around on it out back in the alley; it is great. James and Jacki say they are going to make a bicycle helmet shaped like a
muffin for Hannah to wear when she is riding around.

Specials today are:
Apple and cheddar omelette
Banana pancakes
Chilled curried cucumber leek soup
Caesar salad with bacon
Avocado goat cheese sandwich
Banana oatmeal spelt or almond raisin bran muffins
Chocolate-chip cookies

Did you know that there is a Toronto Public Library branch in the bottom of City Hall? Yesterday I went there, just to see what it was like. It's pretty small, but I like the idea that there is a library there.

the omelette today is mushroom and cheddar

the soup is chilled curried cucumber

Hanah is baking more muffins, banana spelt

Our newest payrollee started today, her name is Jodie and she lives in the west end and is very nice.  Jodie plays softball

Speaking of sports Glory FC is comfortably at the bottom of the Sunday league's 3rd division table.  That's exactly where we planned to be at this point in the season, and I know that the team will give 110% to stay there.  Go Glory FC!

Good morning to you all.
Today is what you call a scorcher. A real hot one. Yuck.
In other news, as you can see from the last two days' blogs, we have hired a new person: Reg Vardy. He is an interesting addition to the Morning Glory team as he is too tall to actually
fit through either the front or the back door here, but as long as he ducks down there is no problem, and once he is inside he is very pleasant and an efficient waiter as well. Come say hello to him.

The specials today are:
Cheddar and chive scramble
Chilled bean and vegetable soup
Blueberry pancakes
Caesar salad with bacon

My blogs have devolved into a bumbling collection of fictions.

Ok, so more of the same for today.  It's hot outside but it's cool in here.

The omelette is anjou pear and brie, a french classic in my mind anyway. Then, what do I know about the french?

The avocado and goat cheese sandwich is on today, and I know even less about goats than I do the french.

The soup is chilled vegetable-bean.

We have muffins, we have cookies.

We have fresh juices

love

Reg Vardy

hello

Okay, for baked goodies we got some zucchini muffins, some banana bran muffins, Trish's spiced brownies and rosemary pound cake.

The omelette is, like er, cherry tomato and goat cheese

We got a really nice chilled vegetable-bean soup

Have any of you tried the avocado and goat cheese sandwich? 'cos we got that too.

Hmm, caesar salad with crispy bacon rounds it out...nice coffee as per...lovely tea menu...nice breeze on the patio...enjoy

Jacki is clattering about the kitchen like mad and cooking up a storm of flavour and Kelly is as usual taking care of the customers with quickness, grace and a smile.

To finish, I will give you an interesting piece of information about ancient Egypt: it seems that the ancient Egyptians, as early as the third millennium B.C., may have developed some form of antibiotics. This is based at least in part on human remains that show evidence of an impressive number of successful limb amputations, after which the patients clearly lived for a long time. Pretty cool, I thought. (Assuming I have remembered all of that correctly).
Bye now.

Morning, readers.
For those of you lamenting the absence of muffins in the morning, James' sister Hannah has started her new full-time gig of baking lovely muffins and things, right here. To be honest, I haven't tried them, but they look wonderful and I have heard only very good things. One of you can come and try a muffin - there is now only one left.

Specials today are:
Apple, havarti and green onion omelette
Spicy melon soup
Bacon, lettuce, tomato, cheddar and avocado sandwich
Chocolate hazelnut pancakes
Caesar salad with bacon
Muffins and cookies

For the athletes out there, we are organizing a Morning Glory Summer Fun Day for sometime in August, primarily featuring a three-legged race. You will probably be able to see staff members practicing up and down the alley in the next few
weeks. The prize is a dozen boiled eggs. If anyone else is interested in participating, let Jacki in
the kitchen know and she will take down your name.

Soon they will tear down the building behind Morning Glory, in the laneway. Also all the trees around it. I wonder what is inside that old closed-up building. Maybe it was once
the headquarters of some bank robbers and when they tear it down they will find the walls stuffed with money. Or maybe it is where the alleycats have been living and when they tear down the walls they will discover a miniature cat village inside. Surely there is something interesting in there.

The specials today are:
Caramelized onion and cheddar omelette
Chilled tomato chili soup
Blueberry pancakes (six dollars)
Caesar salad with bacon (six dollars)
Avocado and goat cheese salad (five dollars or six-fifty with bacon)

Bye,
Kelly
