goooohoooood morning! it's gonna be scortcher! ha, i love when people say that. well it's me and waylon keepin it real today at the old MG. dougie and james are here at the moment, but won't be for long. they are soooooo busy these days. they're just too hot to handle too cold to hold. toooooooday we have so many great things. today's specials are:

-ME (of course)
-grilled zucchini, oregeno and goat cheese omelette
-avocado and goatcheese sandwich
-caesar salad with bacon
-apple pancakes
-chilled curried sweet pepper soup

it's wednesday and it's another beautiful day outside! mmmhmmmm. it was so nice out yesterday that i decided to sit outside all day. now i am so sun burnt it hurts. hopefully it will fade. i don't want to look like a tomato all summer long. tooooooday's specials are:

blueberry pancakes

we had a little problem with the muffins today, sorry! we will have them again tomorrow!!!

how are you? it's wednesday and it is going to be very hot today. so, dress appropriately! no snow pants or boots. today when kelly and i were opening we found an injured baby bird outside our door. we didn't know exactly what had happened until our friend went down the street and talked to the vet. apparently the other birds kicked this one out of the nest. our friend rescued it and now he has to feed it every 3 hours and itg turns out he will have a pet for the next 10 years. unless of course our little birdie doesn't make it. in which case, he might find his way onto our special board. haha just kidding..

onto our real specials:

We will be featuring both the Caesar salad and the avocado-goat cheese sandwich pretty much every day through the summer. You lucky ducks.

Last week I forgot to blog about what I meant to blog about, which was the dream I had about work. In my dream I was going to be covering a shift for Cameron, and so I naturally had the idea from this that for the shift I should dress as much like Cameron as possible. So I was wearing either a red and white striped t-shirt or maybe it was a red and white striped t-shirt dress, since in the dream Cam always wore red and white striped t-shirts to work. And then I was standing around in the alley about to go in to work when Cam suddenly
arrived, because he had had the same idea, that I should dress up like him, and he had come to give me a larger-than-life Cameron papier-mache mask to wear to work, the kind that fits over your entire head like the head of a puppet. It looked just like Cameron, but about 4x the size and papier-mache. We agreed that this was just fantastic.

happy monday everyone! welcome to the wonderful world of morning glory. the sun is shining, the patio is open. it's a little bit chilly, but, with a light jacket it would be just lovely out there. i hope everyone had a good mother's day weekend. it was only medium busy here. there were lots of happy moms though. i don't know how many of you are into the sopranos, but there was a crazy episode on last night! oh man. i'm not going to give anything away, just in case. but, if you haven't seen any of the new episodes they are on tmn on demand. the series is ending soon, and let me tell you, this will be the end of an era. this has been one of the best shows i have seen. i highly recommend watching each and every episode. ok onto more official business:

James and Doug are hard at work renovating the Mercury this week. The place is still open until noon each day so if you pop in you can get a look at what they are doing.
I was sick for a few days so I watched the Lindsay Lohan/Jamie Lee Curtis remake of Freaky Friday, which was pretty fun because both silly teen movies and pre-bad Lindsay Lohan can be pretty fun to watch. The Freaky Friday story always bothers me though because it reminds me of this movie that I once saw on TV when I was little, and I've never figured out what it is. It was made, I think, in the seventies?? and it was about a teenage girl who can't relate to her mother, but then somehow she gets transported back in time and gets to hang out with her mother as a teenager, after which she can of course understand and relate to her mom better. For fifteen years or so it has bothered me that I can't figure out what it was so if this sounds familiar to anyone... please let me know.

we are all out of muffins all ready! sorry!

yesterday i walked from my house at dundas and bloor to bathurst and queen. i'm a big fan of long walks in the summertime. not only is it great exercise, but there is so much action in toronto this time of year. it's interesting to just walk around and observe people. not in a stalkerish kind of way though. that would just be creepy.

I don't think anyone has mentioned yet in the blog that we have Morning Glory t-shirts for sale here at twenty dollars apiece. They are white with black trim and prominently feature the logo of the 2007 Glory F.C. (That's the Morning Glory-affiliated Football Club which by they way proudly finished their first season a couple of weeks ago with a win).

I went into a lizard and walking stick store around the corner from my house yesterday. It is a funny combination of things to
sell in a store, and reminds me of the bulk food and dehumidifier store that used to exist around the corner from my house growing up. I can't say much about it I guess because it is so busy in here and it is just not stopping... but it was so crazy there. Full of hundreds of little baby chameleons in cages up to the ceiling, and chameleons are so crazy - they have little hands just like humans... Ahh I have to go.

it's thursday... it's busy... and although i'd like to devote yet another blog to the lovely and talented daisy jane norton (in case you missed it on monday... and again on wednesday... she was born sunday, she's a healthy 8lbs 9oz and her parents tommo and martha are quite smitten and probably a little tired) i should get right to the specials.

Hello Everyone -
The fellas are talking like robots and tending to bump into things today, so I thought I'd step in and rescue them from this mildly complicated task.

The patio is sunny, and the smell of bacon wafts past. It's really a lovely place to be if you've got a half hour for a coffee and sarney. AND - if coffee isn't your thing, there's amazing new juices of fruits to try. Cam thinks it would be divine to have an entire jug of mango lemonade to himself.

And now for the official business part of things:

The sandwich special is bacon, lettuce and grilled red pepper on sourdough;

The special soup is roasted red pepper and coconut;

I am sensing the omelette should also have red peppers in, but no - the omelette is fresh chives with cheddar and truffle oil. delicious!

And on a personal note, welocme to the newest member of the world, Daisy Norton. Born just days ago, she weighed in at 8lbs 9oz, and she and her mom, Martha, are doing fine. Proud daddy Tommo is very pleased with himself. Congratulations, and we can't wait to meet her!
