The re-election of David Miller seems to give the My European Vacation with David Miller photo series a slightly added resonance. I wonder if David Miller will be able to find any time to come down to the big M.G. and eat following his re-election. I imagine that the time following one's re-election is a busier-than-usual time. I wonder if there's a village of Whos living in that white mane of his, says Eric. I don't know why he wonders that. Maybe the quantity of hair. I wonder if anybody voted for the mayor because they like his hair.

it is tuesday.. and it is a little bit gloomy outside. but other than that it's an alright day. at least it's not too cold, which is pretty good considering we are halfway through november. today we are doing:

and.. as always we will be open for tea time today from 3-4 pm. we will be serving coffee, tea, specialty coffees, tasty treats, and 3 sandwiches. so come on down and check it out.

note to the mima's (you know who you are)... where are you? cause todays pancakes are quite possibly the lightest, fluffiest pancakes we've ever served here... you don't want to miss out on this batch ladies. i guess that goes for everyone else as well.

Monday morning, Cam-diggy's digging in to a stuffed rosti topped with an sunny side up egg, Bowie's on the the stereo, the ladies from MiMa are having muffins and coffee, and the lady sitting by the window is having toast. The regulars have been in for their take-outs and the air is full of the smell of fried tomatoes and onions. Along with tapping our feet to Rebel Rebel we're serving a roasted vegetable and cheddar omelette, some roasted beet soup and lovely baked goods(butter tarts and double chocolate tarts). A very cozy November morning in Cork Town.

why hello and welcome to the wonderful world of morning glory. alex threw a fabulous party on tuesday night- as usual. and... i got drunk! but whatever, goodtimes are worth the hangover the next day sometimes. it was good to see matthew after FOREVER! and also lovely to meet his new friend zenya. (i hope i spelt her name right!)

Busy busy morning. Busy busy busy. Maybe that means that everyone has caught on to our being open on Wednesdays.

Specials today are:

I wonder why it is that some days everybody orders the same thing... today everybody is ordering a latte - lattes, lattes, lattes. People who usually get lattes are getting lattes; people who never get lattes are ordering lattes; all the other people are also ordering lattes... Sometimes there are days when everyone orders, say, a tuna sandwich. And the tuna sandwich is really good, and people like it, but it's not our most popular sandwich. Only sometimes there are days when two thirds or three quarters of the people order tuna sandwiches. And that is funny. What makes a day a day on which everybody feels like a tuna sandwich??

Good morning. There are two big pieces of Morning Glory news today: one is that today is 50s and 60s Tuna Melt Friday; we are playing old music and making tuna melts - our tuna salad with cheese and tomato on grilled sourdough. And the other piece of important restaurant news is that starting yesterday Morning Glory is open from 3-4 pm on weekdays for "Tea Time." We will still be closing the kitchen at three but until four we will be serving tea, coffee, specialty coffee, soup, a few of our sandwiches and baked goods. So please come visit us in these new extended hours.

The specials today are:
Tomato, onion, basil and mozzarella omelette
Sweet potato and garlic soup
no more muffins
Organic brownies
Organic blueberry crumble
Mother's Little Helper shortbread cookies

No long ruminations from me today; I will just briefly say that Hallowe'en was fun and I wish there was a dress-up day four times a year, and I went as Laura Palmer from Twin Peaks wrapped in plastic. Some of the costumes that I ran into were: Medusa, a turtle, Mary Poppins, Jerri Blank, Groucho Marx, a naked lady (she was wearing a naked lady costume) and a pro-life activist.
I will leave you with James' question: Why do guys in indie bands all have beards now?

I'm not posting the specials here, I'm just announcing our new "Tea Menu". As of Thursday November 02 Morning Glory will be staying open from 3 to 4PM on weekdays for tea-time. Not High Tea like they do at those fancy hotels but just good old fashioned tea like I got when I was a kid. Low Tea I'd guess you'd call it, beans on toast or a sandwich and a mug of, well, tea. I'm looking into this whole High Tea thing and we are planning to give it a try here at MG very soon. In the mean time on weekdays the kitchen will close like it always does at 3 but we'll have a small section of sandwiches and baked goods until 4 as well as coffee, specialty coffees and of course, tea.

I'd like to thank our new friends at Tea in the Sahara Inc. for putting together a lovely collection of high end loose leaf teas. We'll try and post it on the web site (well, if I can ever figure out how) but in the mean time you should get over here to check them for yourselves, give them a sniff. We have two types of chai, herbal and wellness teas, Earl Grey, green teas, black teas, fruit teas...

Funny thing about the descriptions of these various teas, I'm just perusing them and, well I've heard a lot of musical terms in explaining tastes..top notes, resonance, tones...but theses tea descriptions are quite, racy. So far I've seen words such as luscious, sumptuous, passion. firey, steamy, stimulates, mellifluous (I'm not even sure what that means, but it sounds dirty), spicey not to mention, plums, cream and the word bed! Well, I've always been a black coffee kind of guy and wondered why some people get so excited about tea. I think I know now. And I'm not sure it's the tea. Or maybe it is the tea and it gets them so excited that they can't help but refer to it in sensual terms.

So come on in, have luscious cookie or a sumptuous muffin and a steamy shot of caffiene to get you through the afternoon if you're feeling a little flacid. Oh, and of course the lovely new teas.

Damn, if this Rooibos Blood Orange had a dick, I'd suck it.

it's wednesday! yes, i am here again. it's all jacki all the time this week. happy day off kelly! i hope you got up to something amazing last night. well it's november. halloween is over. time for christmas! it's true though. have you ever noticed that as soon as halloween is over the christmas decorations come out? who actually starts preparing for the holidays now? i mean really.. if that's the case why are malls so busy on christmas eve?!
