happy friday everybody!
j to tha acki is in the hiz-ouse cooking up a storm. well, not right this minute, because i am blogging.. but you get the idea. i hope this blog works because my blog yesterday did not. me thinks it might be a cool weekend. by cool i mean both cold and awesome. it's not really a weekend for me though because i work both saturday and sunday. but, i don't mind because i have the best job ever! yes, that's right, after many years of either hating or just tolerating the many jobs i have had, i can actually say that i love what i am doing right now. it is just fantabulous.
well part of my job is helping come up with the specials.. so.. here they are:
-brie and roasted red pepper omelette
-tomato veggie soup
-smoked salmon and cream cheese sandwich
-vegan banana flax muffins
-strawberry rhubarb muffins
-wild berry bran muffins
i hope everyone has a grrrreat friday and i'll catch ya on the flipside.

It is Wednesday. We are open. Now Wednesday can be a day as good as any other. I think it has been mentioned in previous blogs, but again - Morning Glory will now (starting today) be opening on WEDNESDAYS as well as all the other days in the week. You lucky ducks.
The specials on this inaugural Wednesday are:
Leek and caraway spiced gouda omelette
Tomato vegetable soup
Organic wild berry muffins
Organic chocolate chip cookies
It is really rude when people throw trash in the basket of your bike. This happens from time to time when you have a basket on your bike - you come out from wherever you were to find empty paper cups or Burger King wrappers in your apparently-trash-can-resembling basket. It is pretty shocking and awful when people litter at all - the age when littering was a little bit more common and acceptable is far behind us - but when people throw litter in the basket of your bike, it seems to take on a sort of personal character. And there was something particularly discomfiting about leaving work at Morning Glory the other day and finding a customer's candy wrappers FROM Morning Glory littered in my bike basket. Rude. Funny too.

YAAAA!!
i hope everyone had a grand weekend.. we've escaped the rain, and MG is indeed open in this beautiful sunshine!!

- wild puffball mushroom & cheddar omelette
- potato & leek soup
- organic cookies, banana loaf, & belgian chocolate mud cake
mmmmmmm... tassty..

..the giant puffball mushroom that we got for the omelette was twice as big as james' head.

well we survived. morning glory's still here. jacki's still standing.
so i guess it's safe to assume that day one of jacki's kitchen tour of duty was a success.
so successful in fact, that she's back for more today.
...she is a trooper.
today in her arsenal she's sporting :

blueberry mango muffins
cranberry pineapple muffins
and back for a return engagement
... our homemade prosciutto, red onion and tomato sandwich
look out, she's got tongs, she's got a spatula, and she's not taking any prisoners. you've been warned.

today is jacki's first official day in the kitchen, on her own (yes I know she worked two weekends ago but james was at her elbow for the lions share of it). so this is it, her coming out party, her debutantes ball, if you will.
so come, be entertained, be amazed, be patient.
... and i assure you, you won't be disappointed.

I'm interrupting you right there, Jacki. Doug had a busy day yesterday and had to leave us lot more of the prep to do before the lunch rush today. I'm sure your tale of subway woe is riveting, but...
The omelette today is e-coli free babay spinach and cheddar
The muffins are spelt banana-flax, and orange-cranberry
The soup is roasted red pepper and coconut
The pancakes are as usual, limited. They have nectarines in them.
Yeah, yeah I sound a little harsh this morning. Jacki, take it on me at the paint ball night next week.

my birthday was the other day, and i've officially been on the planet earth for two decades now.. i think it's an alright place to be.. kelly mentioned yesterday that halloween is approaching... i like halloween, and i like candy, but i never liked dressing up in costumes, even as a wee lad... i don't know why, maaaybe just one two many traumatizing childhood memories...

Good morning, where are you?
It is a quiet morning here.
The specials today are:
Sweet potato and goat cheese omelette
Chickpea masala soup
Organic peach muffins
Organic banana pineapple walnut muffins
Organic brownies
Organic chocolate-chip cookies
Organic vegan banana loaf
School started on Monday, which is alright; I like school, but I think this first week has sort of got me down... feeling a little bit blue... I think I just wasn't ready for this encroachment on my freedom. But I will get back into it.
Halloween is coming up soon and I wish I could think of an excellent costume. I would like to go as Agent 99 but she doesn't seem to have any very distinguishing features, so I think that is a no.

- strawberry rhubarb muffins (only two left!!)
- red pepper, red onion, & feta omelette
- chickpea masala soup
- organically orgasmic brownies & cookies
mmm.... i can almost taste all those specials right now... yumm.
isn't autumn great? you can finally pull out all those sweaters that you've wanted to wear all summer long..
although today's a bit too grey to be the ideal autumn day.. ahh well...
did anyone know they're making a simpsons movie? aswell as a 'new age' ninja turtles movie? this frightens me.. as if they havn't milked the simpsons enough these days.. ...i think a futurama movie would be much more appropriate.. but that's just me... i love futurama, it goes good with a late night bowl of cereal..

howdy! that's a word that is used far too little. it looks like rain right now.. so come on down to the MG because today we have some:

- cheddar & fresh herb scramble
- apple cinnamon pancakes
- and sweet potato soup
my first weekend of cooking just passed. i think it went pretty well. i don't think james will ever let me peel potatos again, but other than that.. it was fine..
cameron's birthday is coming up on the 16th of september, just so everyone knows. he will be 20! wowza. it feels like yesterday he was in diapers. actually maybe he was now that i think about it.
well, wnough of my random rambles.

- sautéed leek & cheddar omelette
- sweet potato soup
- croque monsieur (ham & swiss sandwich, with dijon mustard)
i saw one of my most favorite bands ever last night at the drake, they're known as 'foxfire forest' and they kick out the jams, it's difficult trying to resist dancing to their infectious tunes, if you ever have the chance to see these chums you should do it, you won't be sorry.. ...MG specials are great too, you should eat our food everyday, (except for wednesdays, boycott wednesdays) ...have a wonderful day everyone..

Today is the first day of September, which for people of school age sort of means that summer is over. Unfortunately for me it doesn't really feel like summer is over, and I am not mentally prepared for returning to classes and things the week after next. All I want to do is have fun all the time. To remedy this, I am going to try to have so much fun this weekend that I don't want to have any more.
We are still spinning records here, if you want to bring yours over.
