GOOD MORNING! There may be no TTC this morning however, at Morning Glory we 'ave got...

a) bABY spinach and cheddar omelette
b) Spinach soup
c) lovely spelt flour and chocolate chip and almond and walnut muffins
d) brownies

"Exciting" events that have happened thus far today...

1) James and I realized (i.e. someone told us) that the TTC was on strike today.
2) I put 'smelt' muffins instead of 'spelt' flour muffins thus causing some confusion amoungst both our patrons and James (he questioned the validity of my impending masters...).
3) Laurie and Doug came in...and Doug rented a car to take Laurie to work.
4) I talked to Laurie (who is an editor) about my inability to spell 'food' words.
5) James and I started the morning with a coffee on the patio in celebration of the beautiful day.
6) I ate an eggy sandwich for brekkie.

HEY! Steven and I went to The Mercury on Saturday and had AMAZING coffee and mine even had a little heart on the top...Fantastic.

Go there.

(Don't tell J and D but at first I was a bit like 'it's only coffee' but once I had ingested said coffee, I realized what they were talking about!)

Enjoy the day folks. Come and visit us and sit on our nice patio which Doug and Trish have greenified with their masterful horticultural skills. They have planted mint, rosemary, chives, and lots of other stuff including, you guessed it, Morning Glories!

We are off to a quiet start here today so I can blog a little bit early.

Omelette today is zucchini and parmesan
Soup is sweet potato, butternut squash and leek
Muffins are banana

Just now when I was writing 'squash' I accidentally misspelled it at first in a way that reminded me of the word Sasquatch, and I was reminded of how when I was little I used to be really interested in that elusive creature known as the Sasquatch. I used to check books out of the library about it and do projects on it at school. Kids get so interested in funny things. I also used to really like ghosts. And the Titanic.
I think this blog is boring but I don't have anything else to say.

Having been here since October, I was both flattered and insulted when Doug asked me to write the blog this morning. Why was I not asked before this point? I really shouldn't dwell on this small detail as I assume it's because I used to work on Saturdays and now have switched to ye olde Monday morning.... I will admit that now the time has finally arrived I am slightly apprehensive to 'blog'. I am overcoming this nervousness as I realize that it's for a greater cause: the glory of the morn! Therefore the specials today are:

Baby Spinach and cheddar cheese omelette.
Red bean and garlic soup.
Chocolate chip and almond muffins.

So....about stuff...I have discovered the beauty of the pod-cast and have realized that it's easy to download
(is that even the correct word anymore?!?!) stuff from the beeb (i.e. bbc) and the ceeb thus keeping me amused while in transit. Okay, that was fun stuff. I'll go pat myself (or Doug) on the back now. Byebye from Scooter (emmeline).

In restaurant news: we have a new coffee carafe here at Morning Glory. We got new take-out cups, you see, and they are too tall to fit underneath the old one. These new coffee cups are compostable. You can put them in the green bin. Speaking of which, have you been to the Mercury yet? They are using all biodegradable/compostable take-away materials. They have clear plastic cups for cold drinks that look like any old plastic cup but really they are made of sugar cane. Or maybe potatoes, I can't remember which. I think that is really neat.

Specials today:
Pear and brie omelette
Mango zucchini soup
No more mixed berry muffins
Grilled salami and provolone sandwich for $5.50

I went to a concert last night and so today I am too tired to offer you my usual wit and charm.

It is another beautiful day and our patio wishes for you to come and sit on it.

Today's specials are:
Tomato, green onion and feta omelette
Vegetable soup
Chocolate chip pear muffins

Unfortunately I forgot to bring in Love and the Facts of Life, so that will have to wait until tomorrow. Instead I will tell you about another old book called "I've Got Your Number." It's from, I believe, the 1920s. We found it up at my Grandma's cottage a few years ago and ever since, everyone who comes to the cottage has to do the "I've Got Your Number" quiz. There is a different set of questions for men and women and depending on your answers, you arrive at a final number, and then you look up your number in the back of the book and it tells you about yourself. Some examples of questions in the women's section are: Would you paint your front door blue if you felt like it? Would you like to go up in an airplane? If you heard a noise in the night, would you get up to investigate? Would you join a parade that went past your house? The final descriptions are equally funny and dated but obviously it would take up too much room to go through them (and I can't remember any anyways) so you will just have to imagine what they might be.

Happy May Day. Wikipedia says that various holidays are celebrated on this day, the most famous of which is International Workers' Day. To celebrate here at Morning Glory Doug and I are working extra hard, and we are offering you the following specials:

Baby spinach and feta omelette
Wild Ontario ramp and potato soup
Raspberry oatmeal muffins

My roommate found a Guide to Mixing Drinks book from 1959 on the street one day. It has a section in the back called 365 Excuses to Throw a Party and then a reason next to every day of the year. They are mostly obscure holidays and anniversaries of events you've never heard of like "Anniversary of the day Franny Littleton got out of jail". This May Day talk reminded me of it. The funnier section in the book though is the one called "What and When" which tells you what to drink in various situations. For example, it tells you what to drink with a lady at, for example, a sporting event, a Sunday luncheon, after the opera, etc. It is one of the evening situations where it tells you, "she'll see it your way after champagne cocktails..." I should also tell you about the book "Love and the Facts of Life" from 1962 that my roommate also found. The best chapter in that book is called "What's the Harm in Petting?" I'll save that for Thursday. Gosh, who throws these things away?
