This news is sort of related to the restaurant: did you know that clear, apparently plastic take-away cups can be made from potatoes and go in the compost bin?

Today we have...
Pear and brie omelette
Tomato rice soup
No more blueberry muffins
The early bird catches the worm.

This week was a holiday from school but I didn't really do anything. Sometimes that is nice but this was just sort of boring. I mostly lay around and watched Twin Peaks. Which is not boring but I wasn't actually very much in the mood for watching it; I was just watching it because it is the only thing I have on video, and my dvd player was broken. Well not actually broken; it's just that someone switched a button so that it was supposed to be on channel 4, but I didn't know so I had the tv on channel 3. This blog is about as boring as my week was.

Hi there folks. It's our second last week of being closed on M, T, W so don't fret.

Blueberry pancakes $5

Leek and cheddar omelette

Mango chocolate chip muffins

Our soup will be ready at quarter to eleven and it will be Tomato Rice.

I got new glasses this week, well, old new glasses. I got them from this place called Discount Optical because they have loads of old frames which is what I wanted. I picked out a pair and the lady decided to give me the frames for free because she said "Quite frankly these frames are ancient and I'm just glad to get them out of the store." James said that he can't look at me because they're too big for my face but I stand by my love for them. Now I'm like the nerdier girl from WKRP, so two people have said.
And to Kelly. My babysitter only ever invited boys over and ordered pizza with them and wouldn't let me and my brother have any while eating it in front of us. Or there was the one that used to time us for lunch and if we weren't done by the time the egg timer went off we'd get our meal taken away. This lady also gave all the other kids that she babysat milk with green food colouring in it for St. Patrick's Day except my brother and me. I HATED babysitters.

Doug is back. (Sigh of relief). He didn't elope or join a circus but he did visit ten cities and he also got chased by the Spanish police in what was I guess a case of mistaken identity. Luckily everything was sorted out. It seems he looks uncannily like a certain Jose Amirobar.

Specials today are:
Baby spinach and cheddar omelette
Chickpea masala soup
Croque Monsieur $5.50
No more muffins. Why even bother telling you what kind they were?

In some countries talking about the weather is a sure sign that you are a real boredo. (Boredo is like weirdo but it means a boring person). But here in Canada we are always talking about the weather. It doesn't mean that you're not boring; it's just more normal and accepted to talk about it here. Matt and I are standing around talking about last night's great big rainstorm. I also would like to talk about todays' wind. It was so windy that on my way here several times I almost blew away. When I was little I used to have a babysitter who always made me hold her hand really tight when there was a storm because she said I would blow away. Back then I used to think she was crazy; of course I wouldn't blow away. But today I really almost blew away, which makes me think that back when I was four she was being more sensible than I thought at the time.

Well, Douglas is back but he hasn't contacted James yet. I think he's hiding. That's okay though, James can deal with a few more days of work now that he has a lot less hair holding him down.

Pesto and cheddar omelette

Guess what? We decided to have pancakes on Thursdays now because we are closed on Tuesdays because they both start with T. Raspberry pancakes.

Raspberry muffins.

Spicy Red Bean Soup.

In M.G. news today, there is not much to say. It is a quiet day. There isn't even any mail today - I just saw the mailman walk right by.

The specials today are:
Red pepper and feta omelette
Chipotle bean soup
Raspberry muffins
sniffum yrrebpsaR
Curry chicken club sandwich - $6.50

Nothing much has happened to me this week since I got sick on Tuesday night and since then I have pretty much just been lying on my parents' couch watching movies. I am housesitting for them while they are away. I watched these movies: The Collector; a Miss Marple movie; I Shot Andy Warhol; Jagged Edge; and The Crying Game. If I am still sick tonight I will have to go rent more, but I rather hope I will not be sick.
Bye.

Here is a story. A few weeks ago on a very cold morning I decided to ride my bike to the subway in the morning. This was a very cold morning, and I have, or rather had, a very cheap lock. Well my lock was apparently frozen and the key broke off in the lock, which left my bike attached to the side of my house and thus left me in a difficult situation. Well on Wednesday I decided to walk up the local fire department and ask them if they could help me. Come in, they said, and I told them my story. I will send someone over to help you, said the fire man. I went back home and sat on my porch. After a while, around the corner came a large red fire truck. It didn't have its siren on but it attracted a lot of attention anyways. All the old ladies on their porches stood up to get a closer look. The fire truck pulled up in front of my house, and out jumped five firemen. I showed them where the bicycle was. One fireman went up to have a look at the lock. He reached at it to get a closer look, and as he touched it, it came apart. The firemen had a good laugh at me. Then they got back in their truck and left. This is a true story.

Heidi had her baby at 6:30 am on Tuesday! FINALLY. He's a boy, but they knew that part already. They named all 9 pounds of him Kurt with a K. Congratulations.
