Score today: James day 6 out of 10 and we're out an Adam and a Dana (our upstairs neighbours are movin' on up to the upper east side today) but we're up an Eric ( another one of our regs is movin in, the very kid that is keeping the Cafe Bon Bon going strong).
Apple Pancakers $5
Pear and Brie Omelette
Blueberry Muffins
Spicy Red Bean Soup
What else? Oh! Last night my boyfriend came home to me passed out on the couch with an empty beer glass beside me and the TV still on, "Like Archie Bunker!" James said. To my credit the TV was turned to the CBC.
James wants to give a shout out to Douglas. The J man has been sporting a spectacular ponytail since you've been gone.
Sincerely,
Kirstan

Okay it's Monday for the rest of you but for James it's day 5 out of 10.
Arugula and Cheddar Omelette
Pear and chocolate muffins
Spicy red bean soup
I also bought an old dress from Marilyn (the lady who owned the vintage store that closed). When I was there, she lit her filter. It's a beautiful lined white cotton 1940's strapless dress with boning and it only cost 20 bucks no tax. The only feasible place I could wear this dress would be my wedding. I'm not planning on getting hitched any time soon, so I might not even ever wear it. But I love it just the same. IT doesn't smell. Maybe it's just your apartment Kelly, or you. It did kind of smell like wet dog in here yesterday. I wonder if James showered. Maybe James shouldn't shower until the end of his 10 days, like a sports play off thing. Just a thought.
Sincerely,
Kristan
Heidi, did you have your baby yet?

Dear Blog,
You'd think that things would be quiet around here what with it being the middle of winter and also because Doug is gone, and so all of his suitors have stopped coming around here. But it has been rather busy. Hence the lateness of my blog.
Specials today are:
Baby spinach and cheddar omelette
Mushroom noodle soup
Salmon Sarnie - $7.00
Blueberry muffin
And we have finally assigned a regular price to sarcastic remarks: 25 cents.
Didn't there used to be a "cents" symbol on the computer keyboard back in the old days? It doesn't seem to be there anymore.
My apartment smells like Old Dress and I don't know what to do. I bought these three beautiful old dresses from this lady who used to run a little shop full of old clothes. She used to find these great vintage clothes and then sort of throw them all into the store on top of each other, and then she would sit on top of piles of clothes and smoke cigarettes all day. And you could go in and sort of have a treasure hunt. Sometimes you would walk in and see one really great shoe, and then after a while in the opposite corner you would find the matching shoe. Well you could often find great things there but the catch is they would smell like old clothes mixed with cigarette smoke. So I bought these three dresses there, and they really smelled bad so I had them dry cleaned. But that didn't really work. So yesterday I hand-washed them in my bathtub and hung them up to dry before I went to bed. And when I woke up this morning my entire apartment smelled like Old Dress. It was like getting them wet only brought out and multiplied the smell, like a wet dog. Yuck. And actually the smell of Old Dress is a little bit like wet dog.

Blog blog blog. Doug's in Spain now, James' birthday is done and it's still winter. Did you notice that the temperature dropped significantly after Monday's election, food for thought.
Mushroom and cheddar omelette
Raspberry muffins
Tuscan bean soup
James told me this morn that one of the elected Alberta MPs (in the Calgary West riding to be exact) was Rob Anders, the very man that refused Nelson Mandela's phone call after he voted against Mandela's honourary citizenship. AAAAAAAAAH! Well, that's all. I don't think I have to say much else.
Sincerely,
Kristan

I'm going to start out with a big Happy Stockwell birthDay (26,000 votes?) to JAMES! He's a whole ten years older than I am. His present, a Conservative minority. Doug is leaving the country tomorrow because of the results, only for three weeks though. He'll be back in time for the next election. So, I would like to give two Bon Voyages today, one to another ounce of James' ever dwindling youth and the other to the Spainward bound Doug.
Blueberry Pancakes $5
Arugula and Cheddar Omelette
Banana Muffins
Tuscan Bean Soup
But really, this is the best worst situation that could happen. Another government that won't be able to do much with more NDP seats. Bitter Sweet. I'm tired, I stayed up for all the results and speeches. I'm going now, Paul Martin style.

Election day. I would have said happy election day but seeing as James and I are trying to figure out a relevant slogan for the chalk board this morning and the only thing we've thought of so far is "Goodbye Canada, we'll miss you.", HAPPY doesn't seem appropriate.
ORANGE Sweet potato and Goat Cheese Omelette
Mushroom Soup
Chocolate Chip Muffins.
Two reminders today:
1) VOTE VOTE VOTE VOTE and VOTE AGAIN! (Except voting twice isn't legal. Once will suffice, I just wanted to make myself clear.)
2) In February we will be closing on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays. Sorry for all you pancake addicts out there. Maybe the methadone clinic will have something for all of you as well! See, it's not all that bad. "OOOOOOO", as James said. I'm just pumping out the controversy this morning.

Hello,
A reminder that we will be closing on Mondays, Tuesdays, and Wednesdays in February. This is to accomodate the decreased staff as Doug leaves us to attend and participate in the annual Snakes and Ladders championships in Barcelona, Spain, followed by a bit of sightseeing. Our best to you, Doug.
Today's specials are:
Sauteed red pepper and cheddar omelette
Tomato vegetable soup
Blueberry muffins
Baked pork, peach and goat cheese on a toasted bun with a side of cole slaw - six dollars. But that one won't be ready until noon.
I won't really have anything interesting to say for a couple of months. Something about the winter.

It's a little bit warmer out there today and in here, now the specials:
Raspberry pancakes
Sauteed portobello mushroom and cheddar omelette
Butternut squash soup
Honey date and pear muffins, half price! They didn't rise to a satisfactory height so I'm pricing them to clear off the counter, folks.

morning all,
let me start by apologizing for the tardiness of this post, but the latest in a very very long list computer problems has once again kept me, or at least tried to (ha! take that technology) keep me from getting this very important info to you.
that very important info being, of course, today's specials.
so without further adieu (or further delay), here they are, your morning glory specials for friday january 13, 2006.
soup : chickpea masala
Muffin : banana berry muffins
omelette : leek and havarti
sandwich : grilled portabella and goat cheese
how's that for a line up? mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
that's what i'm talkin' about.
anyway, i guess that's it for now.
cheers.
d
btw - for those of you who don't know, we will be closed on mondays and tuesdays as well as the usual wednesdays for the month of february. sorry for the inconvenience but we are in need of a little down time. i hope you understand.
also - thanks to lori for taking over the blog responsibilities while we were without a computer. this is needless to say, but they were far more entertaining that anything i've done. and i'm sure we'll bring you back for some guest appearances in the very near future. until then, cheers to you darlin'. xo

Good morning, readers of the Blog:
As I sit in my office/cage, pondering what kind of office supplies to pilfer today, I look out the window and sigh, thinking that I would much rather hop on a moped (despite the cold and lack of actual moped) and race over to the MG, where I could find comfort in today's specials:
Chickpea Masala Soup
Pear & Brie Omelette
Croque Monsieur (or the Mr. Crock, for the less than bilingual)
Then I would allow myself to weep, for no more than three minutes, because the last Raspberry Muffin has already been sold. Really, it's just cruel to mention the muffins when there is no chance to enjoy them today - but I do get the feeling that they will be available again, one day soon...
Now I am done with my weeping, so I will bid you farewell for the day. I must go stuff my pockets to capacity with paper clips and push pins - you can never have too many...
Enjoy your meals, lucky bastards.
Lori

Good morning, Tuesday. Another good day to swing by the ol' MG for some fuel - of the foodstuff and caffeinated varieties.
Specials for the day:
Soup - Asian Mushroom & Baby Bok Choy
Omelette - Mushroom Cheddar
Also... wait for it... surprises in store... hold on to your socks (unless you wear garters, and then I say good for you for being so traditionally old-fashioned)...
Blueberry Pancakes AND Blueberry Muffins!!
I have been told to pass on a message from James to Tommo: "Tommo is a jackanape." Don't believe it, Tommo - but should you feel the need to respond, you can always email me, then I can pass the message back, and we will continue to pass notes like ten-year-olds. For shame! James is a rapscallion. And Doug is a miscreant.
Enjoy your Morning Glory day,
Lori

Good morning all:
Apologies from the blog for not having wished you all the happiest of new years. Today's blog remedies that. In fact, it already has. We hope that you accept our apology gracefully and without holding a nasty, long-term grudge that will surely tear us apart.
Today, at Morning Glory, we present:
Soup - a lovely Asian Mushroom and Baby Bok Choy
Omelette - the always delightful Butternut Squash and Goat Cheese
Muffins - the easy-going Almond Chocolate Chip
All of the above-listed items are perfect cures for dull winter days...
Wishing you much enjoyment of your breakfasts and lunches,
Lori

Good morning to all from Etobicoke once again. I didn't even ask what computer disaster has occurred at the MG this morning - technology everywhere seems to be very, very moody of late, or at least this is the sense that I'm getting. Perhaps if we bought technology more presents, or told it that we loved and appreciated it (even if we lie - technology won't know), or patted technology on the nose a little more often, it wouldn't let us down so often. Let your new year's resolution be to treat technology as you would your pet pony.
Specials for a cold Friday:
Carrot and Lime Soup
Blueberry Muffins
Mushroom and Havarti Omelette
... and the Classy Sandwich of the Day is the Croque Monsieur.
Discovery of the week: coconut milk is non-dairy (this proved a little puzzling to many smart and normally logical people round these parts this week...)
Enjoy!
