Something important I forgot to mention. We will be closed this weekend - Saturday and Sunday. Have yourselves a lovely holiday weekend. Relax, enjoy, have fun. But don't come here. We won't be here. We'll be back again on Monday.
Happy Canada Day!
Happy Canada Day!
Funny thing - I also went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith on Monday night. Yes, I thought it was a fairly good bad movie as well. I was quite satisfied. A worthwhile use of seven dollars and fifty cents. I didn't actually set out with the intention of seeing it on Monday night, or really at all. On Monday night I was supposed to go to a baseball game. My friend Rachael suggested it. And since none of us had been to a baseball game since 1993, and also since the plan involved everyone wearing a baseball cap (which obviously is a fun thing to do), we were all very excited and we met at Front and Spadina at 6:30 to go to the baseball game at 7:00. At first we were all quite amused to see that there were very few people around. We had been expecting crazy traffic and nowhere to lock our bikes. But there was really no one around. Haha. Not even ticket people. Well, one ticket person. There was no baseball game. Apparently, "the schedule was ambiguous." But oh well. We went to see Mr. and Mrs. Smith instead.
Oh, right, so the specials today - we have a tomato, dill, cream cheese omelette.
Soup is gaspacho
Two more mixed berry muffins.
Sausage patty $2.50.
And Pan Bagne $5.00.
See you.

Saw Mr. and Mrs. Smith last night. I was wary because it's a big hollywood flick and I don't generally see movies unless I really want to. My best friend was really aching for a big flaming movie though so we went. This is the same best friend who loves Wild Things, which is actually one of the best worst movies I have ever seen. I actually found it funny, Wild Things and Mr. and Mrs. Smith. The idea of two people kicking the sh*t out of each other really appealed to me last night. I guess you never know huh?
Peach or pear pancakes $5
Sausage patty on a bun $5
Blueberry muffins
Asparaguts and cheddar omelette

I just read Kelly's Friday blog about kids and development and ice cream smeared faces and I'm a bit worried. You see, I still get ice cream all over my face. My boyfriend will attest to my sloppyness.
Wait, now that I think of it in ALL my baby pictures, the ones where I'm eating, I am absolutely covered in food and gunk to the point where every one who sees them can't look for too long without puking. We're talking on my shirt, face, hair, and encrusted on my glasses. My mom always tells people that I would also throw it at her and her friends.
I guess when I look back to that, I've come a long way. I've probably developped the same amount as a clean child but I had much farther to go so a little bit of sloppy has stuck. I may have even surpassed all of you. I guess I'm just a genius.
Bacon, brie and caramelized onion on a ciabatta bun $5
Zuccini, fresh herb and havarti omelette
Gazpacho
Mixed herb sausage patty $2.50
Chocolate chip muffins
Eat my dust cleanies.

Today we have a soba noodle salad for five dollars, and caesar salad for six dollars.
Our omelette is tomato, dill and cream cheese.
Banana muffins.
And Mexican vegetable soup.
I just tried the soba noodle salad. It was very good. And then I touched my face, and found that there was a noodle stuck to it. How embarassing. What a slob. Good thing no one is around.
Do you think there is a turning point in children's development when they just stop getting ice cream all over their faces? I mean, you know how very young children, when eating ice cream, basically cover their entire face from mid-cheek down with ice cream. Do you think there is a point when that ends quite suddenly, or is it a gradual improvement? I went out for ice cream the other day, and the question came to mind.

Morning.
Today we have caesar salad for six dollars.
Our omelette is baby spinach and cheddar.
Muffins are mixed berry.
And we have mexican vegetable soup.
I found out today that I have a blogging fan. That is, someone is a fan of my blogs. Wow. And so early in my career. It was rather exciting. But I found that the initial excitement was followed by a fairly intense feeling of pressure. I hope that I can live up to it. My blogs will probably become awkward and stilted, trying to live up to these expectations. I apologize in advance.
Bye now.

Well it's monday and the heat is coming back. I think it's time for me to get a kiddie pool. We have a back stoop and access to a parking spot when Helena, owner of the one and only "Helena Beauty Salon", is gone for the day. We also have it on mondays and tuesdays which is Helena's down time. Lazy. Heck we could just plop that sucker on the concrete put on some hats and sunglasses and have ourselves a regular old paradise right in the heart of the Rua Acores. You know what, Helena could even come along if her AC happens to be on the fritz.

Good morning all. How is everyone's Friday going?
Last night I went out with my best friend from when I was six years old. We have just started to hang out again, after an interim of, oh, fifteen years or so. And we get along SO well that I can hardly believe it. What a coincidence, I was saying to another friend, that we still get along so well and have so much in common. And then my friend said, maybe it's not a coincidence at all. Hmm. What an idea. How well do six year-olds pick their friends?
Today we have a muffaletta sandwich - that's ham, salami, provolone and olive salad on a toasted ciabatta bun. With soup or salad for eight dollars.
The omelette is fresh herb and gouda.
Muffins are apple cinnamon.
See you later.

Morning. I don't have a thing to say. What a boring blogger I am today. I don't think I quite have the hang of this blogging thing yet. One day I will be a wonderful blogger, spitting out interesting lines like you won't believe. But today is not that day, I guess.
We have a tomato, caramelized onion and cheddar omelette today.
Mixed berry muffins.
And gazpacho.
We also have some yummy desserts, like chocolate walnut brownies, oatmeal cookies, and raspberry mono-rail cookies.
See you later.

Fridays are nice. Is anyone going out tonight? It's so nice on hot hot days when it cools down and becomes bearable at night. AND last night I made (yes, made it myself) a new dress! Which I am excited to wear this evening. I will have to go out armed with a handful of safety pins, since I am a highly inexperienced sewer and I don't know how well it will hold up. Please cross your fingers for me.
Today we have vegetarian chili with toast for six dollars.
We also have banana muffins... a few still left.
The omelette is asparagus and cheddar.
We have chilled cucumber dill soup.
And chocolate walnut brownies. Yum.
See you later.

Good morning to you.
Yes, it will be another hot day. Tomorrow too. And probably the next day. But I think hot is better than cold. Although I wouldn't mind if it never got VERY VERY hot or VERY VERY cold.
Today we don't have soup. (Who wants soup on a hot day? Although sorry to those who do).
We do have mixed berry muffins.
And the omelette is leak and havarti.
Talk to you later.

Monday monday ba ba ba da ba da. Thank goodness for the warm flippin' weather huh? I just hope it sticks around when I set off for Amherst Island next week. Don't worry, I'll be thinking of all of you while I'm swimming and flea market shopping in the Thousand Islands. If none of you know about Amherst Island, it's a little farming Island just outside of Kingston. Just to give you a pic, when they got their first stop sign 2 years ago it was front page news on their photo copied weekly. My mom grew up there. This Heritage moment has been brought to you by Morning Glory Cafe.

Portabello mushroom and mozzerella omelette

Yes. It's true. We've been falling behind with our blog. Sorry folks, we will try a little harder. Maybe we should hire someone to do our blogs because some days we are just too busy to do them! Don't get me wrong. I'm not complaining. It's better to be busy and have no time to do the blogs than having us write blogs the size of novels!!!
This just in! Tommo and Martha are engaged to be married! CONGRATULATIONS! (This really isn't new news. The proposal took place on the day they moved into their new house which was May 16th. So I'm trying to make up for the fact that I forgot to mention it earlier. Please forgive me. But at least I remembered your birthday!!! And I did get you some lovely samosas!)
Now to what you really want to read about:
The muffins are all gone!
We have a mozzarella and cheddar omelette.
Butternut squash and zucchini soup.
Lots of sweets fresh today! Nanaimo bars, Lemon Cake (too bad you are going away Tommo.) and these really yummy raspberry mono rail cookies!!!!!
Have a wonderfully sunny weekend! Maybe we will see you around!
