Went to the Sharon Jones concert last night. Going on 4 hours of sleep. Amazing concert. If you don't know who she is look her up. You should.
Bacon brie and caramelized onion on ciabatta $5
Mushroom and cheddar omelette.
Spicy black bean soup.
Morning glory apple cake with raisins.
Muffins are all gone.
My question is, why do some people go to a funk concert and just stand there. I went to sweat buckets and had the time of my life.

"It's a beautiful day in the neighbourhood! (remember this song from Mr. Rogers) A beautiful day in the neighbourhood! A beautiful day in the neigh - bour - hood!"
I have to say that we sure have built up a great little community feel since we've been here. Yesterday it was all about business hook-ups. Then by the end of the day James and I helped out our neighbours "the Mima's" who make wonderfully fabulous stationary for all occasions (you can check them out at www.mimadesign.com). It was lots of fun. Really, it was Leigh. So I may just take you up on that waitressing offer one day!!!!!
I don't think that there is one day that goes by without having tables know each other (tables with people not my actual wood tables talking to each other!). Don't be silly. It's nice.
Speaking of nice, we have a yummy tortierre today garnished with delicious pickels served with soup or salad for $8.50.
The omelette is sauteed green pepper, red onion, mushroom and feta cheese.
The muffins are all gone.
Vegetable soup.
Homemade lemon pound cake (it's not as lemony as you would like Tommo, but still very good).
Butter Tarts with raisons.
So if you need someone to make some wedding invitations, or you need a plumber, or a painter or some original artwork then you should come down to MG and we will hook you up. Oh yeah but you better order some food first!!!!!!
Have a good weekend.

Good morning! Eric came in the other day and had the opportunity to meet my brother! Then we started discussing how he and his father have upside down smiles. It's true. Then Kristan and I tried to practice upside down smiles. It's very hard to do. You should try it. (but maybe when others aren't looking because if you don't have the knack you end up looking a little ridiculous. Just ask Eric when he saw Kristan and I trying to do it!) I know you are probably wondering, who is this Eric character and how come we haven't heard of him before?! Well, Eric works down the alley and comes in for his cafe bombon. Cafe bombon you say? Well that's another story. Eric and his father came into our fine establishment the 2nd day we were open. Since then we have met many of his siblings (and now he has had the chance to meet one of my siblings!). They had the kale soup that we were serving up that day. It's funny how I remember these things. Don't you think Eric? Well I could go on about the past year that we have been serving cafe bombons to Eric but I won't because I know all you're really interested in is what we are serving today!
We have our lazy spinach and cheddar omelette today. Hope you don't come in for lunch today Mr. Hart (Eric's dad) because you had it the last time you ate one of our omelettes!
Vegetable soup.
Mango, peach AND blueberry muffins! (only 2 left)
MG's version of a western served on a baguette for $5.00.
Homemade chocolate and walnut brownies.
Have I told you before that I have the tendency to babble. Good thing you only have to read this and you aren't here in the restauarant right now because I think I would be talking your ear off! Good thing for modern technology!

So we have a dandelion and brie omelette today. I'm letting the secret leak a little ahead of scedule today, because when I wrote it on the sandwich board, along with a lovely drawing, I also wrote "Not just for the teachers anymore." And James didn't get it. Man, I always used to pick dandelions for my favorite teacher, Mrs. Dunnigan (I also had a crush on her husband which is a reverse Lolita type of thing. I started watching hockey when I found out he liked the Boston Bruins so I could talk to him about it when he came in to visit.) All this was after playing a good healthy game of chase the boys at recess, specifically David Roe, of course. I'm beginning to think that I had a problem, with all this boy stuff going on at the measly age of 7. Now that I think about it my after 4 counselers (for kids who had two working parents) used to call me a flirt. Nabokov would have had a field day. Well, enough about my excentiricities.
Well as you know dandelion and brie omelette.
Chocolate chip muffins
Bacon brie and caramelized onions on a ciabatta bun $5
Spinach and butternut squash soup.
Homemade cinnamon and sour cream coffee cake.
See ya.

Running low on our ciabatta buns! It's been one "butty" morning! Hopefully my bread order will arrive before the lunch rush today!
In case any of you are wondering, I had the chance to sleep in until 7:30 on Wednesday. It was pretty good. I had a lovely day off. Thank you for asking. Went and had breakfast out, strolled in the sun and went to visit with friends. I must say that I can't wait to sleep in again on my next day off which is Monday (I think).
"Who cares! Just get on with the specials lady!"
Fine!
We have a broccoli and gouda omelette.
2 mixed berry muffins left.
Butternut squash and red pepper soup.
Some homemade chocolate and walnut brownies.
So I hear that we are in for another fabulous weekend. I guess I should get off my ass and tune up my bike! See you later!

Good Monday Morning! One more day of work and then Kristan and I get to sleep in! I'm so excited!
Before I get to the specials I would like to take this time to apologize to the 179 customers that I cooked for on the weekend. You see, when I'm in the kitchen I tend to be a very undelightful person. (James has the week off.) That is why I am better suited for serving!
It has been a quiet day so far, but I am serving up some lovely burnt chocolate chip muffins! Only four left! The insides are super delicious! (I had the oven set a little high, I was half asleep this morning.)
The omelette today is mushroom and gouda.
The soup is a chickpea masala.
We have the Monday classic bacon, brie, carmelized onion sarnie for $5.00.
Some lovely sugar boy cookies, chocolate and walnut brownies, lemon squares and a cherry torte.
Wednesday! Here I come!

Things are back in order today. I'm back to work after the whole easter thing, the weather started behaving again, and that's about it. Those are the only two things that matter, not in the whole world but, you know what? I don't know what the F*#@ I'm saying, rather writing. Heidi just told me to write this thing and that's what I'm doing. Who ever said that craftsmanship mattered? Shut up Kristan just give them what they want.
Bacon, brie and caramelized onion sandwich $5
Baby spinach and havarti omelette
Chocolate chip muffins
Aspara (as my mom would say) guts soup.
And tons and tons of homemade goodies: brownies, peanut butter nanaimos, and yummy apple coffee cake.
Heidi, I'm finished.

What a lovely sunny day! May I suggest that you come by here and get some yummy food to go and sit on a park bench somewhere and soak in the sun. (There is a possiblilty of snow on Saturday!)
The omelette today is leek and havarti.
Yummy banana (the best some say they ever had!) muffins.
Tomato chili corn chowder soup.
No special sandwiches today because we've had 3 days off and we are having a hard time getting back into the swing of things! (I know, I know, this seems to be a trend for us!)
Keep an eye out in the Buzz section of the Sunday Star. Our tuna sandwich is going to be in it very soon!
Have a wonderful weekend!
