I sure do miss spring already. Can you believe that it came and went so quickly and now we are back to winter again? What has this world come to when you only get one day of spring! Remember, it was back on Monday when the sun was out and I could walk down the street with my coat open without a hat or mittens. I was so excited and now I have to shovel. I loooooooovvvvvvvvvvvvveeeee shovelling. I could do it everyday!!!!!! I sure do hope that we get snow everyday!
Snow, snow, snow, I love snow!
The omelette is guacamole and cheddar.
Spring, spring, spring, who needs spring!
Mixed berry muffins.
Green, green grass.....I don't even remember what that looks like!
Asparagus and potato soup.
Asparagus is green. But it doesn't smell like grass. Maybe I'll smell it anyway. (It's official, this weather is making me crazy!)

Pancakes are gone! They were strawberry if you would like to know. There is a certain bunch of regulars which gobbles them up early every morning. Maybe we should make a quadruple batch or maybe we'll just have to settle for line ups in the a.m. or maybe you late birds will just stay home and sulk. But guess what! we still have other food.
Tomato fresh herb and cheddar omelette
Blueberry muffins
Mushroom soup
Hildy's concoctions include:
Magic squares
Chocolate brownies
Bavarian apple tort
Pancakes are overrated any way. No they're not. I had some myself this morning.

Bonjour! Comment ca va? Ca va tres bien, merci. Well no that's a bit of a lie. The day before I left France it was 17 degrees outside. I certainly didn't like flying over Toronto yesterday afternoon to see it covered with snow. But alas, I'm back to see the gray and dirty city streets. Oh how I miss the green grass and the flowers popping up and the one I love in France.
I wish spring would come early.
Thankfully the sun has come out. So you should take a stroll and head over for lunch.
Today we have a lovely tourtiere with soup or salad for $8.00.
The omelette is sauteed leek and cheddar.
We have a roasted vegetable pureed soup.
One mixed berry muffin left.
Some fresh baked chocolate and walnut brownies.
I should warn you however that I'm having a hard time getting back into the rhythm of working. Hopefully I will get back into the swing of things by the weekend.

So, I was telling James how I fell asleep on my couch for two hours last night, a result of five now four jobs, and he said "It's because you're a working stiff now." I never realized it or never put two and two together that "working stiff" means "Working dead" Yuck. In light of my recent discovery, even though it was probably obvious to the rest of the world, take a longer than usual break today and enjoy some of our specials:
Banana Pancakes $5
Arugula and brie omelette
Blueberry muffins
Roasted veggie soup.
If we had a couch I'd let people sleep in shifts.
NB. If we had a couch, you'd be sleeping in shifts (saying that, I'd be curled up under the griddle with the pancake batter) I just want to let people know that Richard Wells has dropped off another of his lovely tortieres(sic) so we'll have that as Thursday's special! JF

I know I promised a necropheliac duck ditty but I'm afraid it will be too much. I know, I know, you couldn't sleep last night because you were excited for this morning's blog. It's like your dad waking you up xmas morning (I'm sorry to all the non xmas celebraters, but I don't know what else to compare it to.) with the news that santa doesn't exist and they always throw out the milk and cookies you make for him because both your parents have been on weight watchers for the past ten years, except this is about duck sex. SORRY.
It's Friday though.
We have an awesome guacamole and cheddar omelette.
One lonesome banana muffin. If you fight over it it will boost its self esteem.
Spring veggie soup.
Vegetarian chili with toast for $6
The bright side: Now YOU can eat all those damn cookies you slave over and wash them down with nice cold milk.

I've never worked on a Thursday before. I'm a bit disoriented. I can't possibly think of what to write in this state, and I can't possibly compete with James' Tuesday mallard necrophelia contribution. I can say that I think we all know what rhyms with duch though: suck, puck, muck, stuck, truck, buck, canuck, upchuck, f*ck, cluck, snuck, I think any or a variety of them would work for a little ditty. Stay tuned tommorow for a little something. (Read tuesdays blogg if you're confused, all you have to do is scroll doown a tad.) I better just stick to telling you all what to eat.
Sauteed onion and zucchini omelette with fresh herbs and gouda. As my mother would say: "It sounds very gouda."
Tropical mango and peach muffins. That's right the muffins each have a touch of jamaican sand. They don't for all you gullables out there.
Spring veggie soup. Please if I could have some spring. . . . . . . I'll just settle for it in a bowl.
I warn you I'm all out of sorts.

Good Morning
todays specials are:
apple pancakes
roasted red pepper and goat cheese omelet
blueberry muffins
potato and leek soup
Apparently, Mallard ducks indulge in necrophilia (Tommo, that means they f**k other "dead" ducks). I read about it this morning in the Guardian (www.guardian.co.uk). I've tried to think of some thing witty to say regarding lame ducks and what it rymes with but nothing's coming...'cept maybe one depraved duck.

Good Monday Morning! It's good for me because as of 5:00 this evening I will be starting my vacation! Yipee! Yahoo! Tomorrow I will be on a plane to France! Yipee! Yahoo! Are you jealous? I know I would be!!!!!
Ok, I'll stop rubbing it in. I suppose you would like to hear about our specials today but first I'm going to tell you about something unrelated to my vacation in France! We had a lot of new customers this weekend which is always nice to see. One of them has their very own blog! You can check it out at domesticaffair.blogspot.com. It's very cute, Jae mentions us in her Sunday entry. So Jae, I'm glad you had a nice time and enjoyed your food, that's what makes us everyones favorite new restaurant. Of course my fabulous serving skills have a little something to do with it!!!!!!!!! (I'm so funny.)
(SO, I'm proof reading Heidi's blog and I'd like to point out the abundant use of exclamation marks, which probably means it's a good day to come in to the restaurant.)
Ok, Ok, now on with today's specials:
We have a pear and brie omelette.
Monday's chocolate chip muffins.
Potato and leek soup.
A delicious pork roast on a bun with soup or salad for $7.50.
So try not to think of me in France when you are sipping a glass of wine or having some marginal cheese while the temperatures go back into the minuses this week.
Don't think of me having a fabulous time in wine country while you happen to be channel surfing and going past the French stations! (She's calming down.)
Don't think of me soaking in all the wonderful galleries, chateaus, and architecture if you happen to walk past someone with a berret! (What's going on?)
I'll take lots of pictures to show you when I get back and did I mention that I'm taking David Miller!? (!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!)

I really don't know how much more I can take of this weather! Do you hear me mother nature?! Enough is enough! Just tell me what I have to do to make it stop. Do you want me to bake more muffins? Ok, fine...if it's about you not liking my invention of tear away long johns, I can stop. Or is it because I haven't put them on the market yet!? Just tell me what I have to do for this @#!%* weather to stop! Please oh please!
So if you can manage the @#$&* cold temperatures out there then you should come in for a yummy guacamole and cheddar omelette.
We have some wonderful mixed berry muffins and they aren't frozen like me toes this morning!
You should definitely come in for some chickpea masala soup to help warm the bones.
Today we have the MG western on a ciabatta bun for $5.00.
So much for putting the long johns away early. Curses you stinking weather! Curses! Oh well at least the sun is out today!

That was my attempt to artistically interpret the weather today.
There are two orders of blueberry pancakes left. The snow didn't stop the regular pancake gobblers.
Our omelette is a goody today. Pear, brie, and caramelized onion.
Blueberry muffins.
Chickpea masala soup.

Hey that one kind of looks like sleet. I could do this all day. Or I could serve breakfast. But let's face it, I'm just here until my artistic endeavours take off. Until then:
