This just in: we are now offering MG gift certificates just in time for the holidays! They are available in $10.00 or $25.00 denominations. (Thanks Ian they look fabulous!) In case you are wondering who Ian is, well in my opinion he is the best graphic artist in all of T.O.!!!

Today we have our popular pesto and tomato omelette.

We sold out of our banana muffins by 9:30 this morning!

The soup today is carrot and parsnip.

In honour of Halloween this weekend we've decided to have no specials. How scary is that!!!!

Be good boys and girls and be sure to have an adult go through your sweets and don't drink too much this weekend!!!!!!

Hellohellohellohellohellohello. Pancakestodaypancakestodaypancakestodaypancakestoday. That was fun. It was to make up for my lack of creativity today, hey at least it looks kind of cool. Maybe it doesn't. Maybe I'm wrong. Maybe I should just quit while I'm ahead. Maybe I should move to the woods and fend for myself. Maybe should raise rabbits and treat them like my children. Mabey people will start calling me the rabbit lady. Maybe children will make up stories about my house in the woods and how it's haunted and ring my doorbell and run away. OR maybe I'll just stick with my job and give you the specials for the day.

The omlette is sauteed mushrooms with mozzerella(I think that's how you spell it.)

The muffins are blubbery, I mean blueberry.

Soup is carrot.

And of course children, you get your chocolate chip pancakes.

Hope to see you all soon. If I'm not here, you know where I am. Maybe.

Monday, October 25, 2004

Welcome to Monday everybody! The question of the day is: Do bears really eat honey? Why am I posing this you ask. Answer: This is the thought capacity of my brain today, this being Monday and all (refer to the first sentence.) I saw a bear on the honey bin? container? JAR. and thought about Whinnie and childhood myths and wondered if anyone could help me out with my little problem. If you don't care, you're probably a normal bitter Torontonian. If you do, thank you for understanding. Now we'll get to what you all care about, FOOD.

The Muffins were chocolate chip but the chips melted and formed lovely swirls in the batter. We have chocolate swirl muffins.

This is an omlette my mom would love: Asparagus and Cheddar.

The soup is butternut squash.

And of course we have the now famous bacon, brie, and caramelized onion on a chiabatta bun. Mmmmmmm.

Come in and help a distressed not new at all anymore girl out with a pointless question or just eat some damn fine FOOD.

Well, you will be happy to know that I woke up sort of on the ball this morning. Though I must say I'm not exactly thrilled about having to wake up and it is still very dark outside. I guess it is a small sacrifice for gaining an extra hour of sleep! Oh how I like sleep. mmmmm...sleep.....

My on the ballness is fading! Must get to the specials.....mmmmmm.....sleep.....

Oh yes, the omelette today is homemade pesto and tomato.

We have some lovely muffins. oops! They are banana......mmmmmm....sleeeeeep.....

The soup today is potato and mushroom.

For you veggies out there we are offering a yummy vegetarian chili served with baguette for a mere $5.00.

mmmmmm.....sleep.....

How could I forget! We have some wonderfully marvelous peanut butter nanaimo bars made by Hildy!

mmmmmm.....sleeeeeeeeeep.......I hope you get lots of it over the weekend.

As per usual Heidi and I were dragged kicking, screaming, and biting into tuesday, feeling very much like monday but tuesday none the less. I would go in to details about my life but I am about to indulge in some lovely apple pancakes which are much more important right now.

The omlette is mushroom and, pardon my french, chevre.

You will find your thrill from the muffins on blueberry hill where you will find me and Heidi.

The soup is an odd combination of butter and nuts, sqash that is.

And as I previously mentioned, the pancakes are APPLE. which I'm going to devour now. Not all of them. Just one serving. Don't worry.

Dear Morning Glory

My morning routine of arriving at the office and checking for witty and entertaining comments on the Morning Glory News page has been pretty uninspiring of late.

Perhaps you need to contract this job out and have a freelance writer come in and do it every morning.
[Wednesdays too 'cause that's just sad not to have something every day of the week]
I've heard that running your own eating establishment is really a license to print money so you guys should be just rolling in dough right?

No prob. to afford a writer?
I think maybe you need to even re-post today's

sincerely,

Concerned reader

Dear Concerned Reader

What the f**k? Can't I catch a f**king break here! I'll give you some g*dd*mn wit! It's not like I get to come in at reasonable time, settle in to my comfy office chair and sip a coffee. I'm f**king here when even the wino's are sleeping and the crack whores are calling it a day, then I get to settle in to my cold m****r f**king kitchen clogs and start grinding out the days f**king muffins! As for money, we barely make the f**king bills let alone have any to roll around in...c**k-s**ker..free lance writer...f**K! I'll re-post you If I ever get my f**king hands on you, pr**k!

Thanks you for your feed back, as always I look forward to comments from our customers.

It was a clever and early specials posting this a.m. but the internet was not agreeing and Heidi screwed it all up. She's not working, she just came in like a tornado and erased my beautiful little tidibit of genius. Blah blah blah, what you really want is something to fill your tummys:

There are two wonderful muffins left, it must be the chocolate chips.

The arugula and cheddar are cozy and safe from the cold in their bed of omlette.

Excuse the next one, I just have to do it: You'll go bananas over the muffins.

The soup today is cauliflower and other things. It's just plain good.

So, I'll see you all at some point today, if I don't I don't. Let's not get too attached.

Sincerely,
The not so new girl

I just received some lovely Ontario courtland apples from Tommo. Who knew he would be so handy up a tree? It's as if he has some innate nature that allows him to swing freely limb to limb.

The omelet is caramelized onion, pear and gruyere

The muffins are blueberry

The soup is pureed tomato, white bean and rosemary

I didn't do a special this week as I've been preoccupied with the upcoming holiday and did not have time to prep anything.

Yay! We have some new music for the restaurant!!!! Thanks to Adam who lives upstairs! It's all Canadian too! Thank you Adam, our music selection was making us cranky!

The omelette today is pesto and tomato.

We have cranberry and walnut muffins.

Our soup is carrot and cucumber.

So come on down and eat some good food and have a listen to some Canadian music.

Tuesday, October 05, 2004

Okay, here's the deal: both Heidi and I, Kristan, are a little cranky today but we'll try to get all your orders right and smile with our teeth. Also I am typing with one hand, because the other is, you guessed it, holding the cord for the computer. I think I broke it the first time I courageously tried to do this thing called the specials. So, on a lovely day like today what are we serving? You have to figure it out for yourselves. . . no really see ya. . . okay I'm pulling all your legs. Here they are:

Our omlette is mushrooms and cheddar.

Muffins are mixed frollicking feild berry.

Come and get your homemade sausage patty on a bun.

Soup isis carrot and cumin.

And because your all the apples of our eyes: APPLE PANCAKES!!!!!

We hope to see all of your lovely faces any time between now and three.

There are some very exciting things afoot at our little King street cafe today. Ian at Cactus designed some awesome postcards for us and I picked them up from the printer on Thursday. It was some time Friday afternoon when Keith at Upcountry called to tell us that we had relocated our address to the west side of town. Bugger! Heidi and Doug have volunteered to spend eight hours or more correcting all five thousand flyers(I am to supply special nourishment).

Remember Tommo, Doug is the driving force.

The bacon, brie and caramelized onion butty is back, and it's become a Monday classic and for five bucks, why the hell not? Hmmn, why not? Hell. Hang on...I need a cup of coffee.

Ok, that's better. The omelet is fresh chive from Heidi's little herb garden out back and Danish havarti(did you know in Denmark they have an entire city made out of Lego? They do, and that's where the prince of Denmark lives and aye there's the rub). Enjoy what is left of the herb garden now 'cos everything out there is dying fast. Death is in the air this time of year and soon we shall reap only bitter herbs...and snow.

I have some lovely bartlett pears that Rosie who owns Quince gave me. I'm using those and mangos as the side of fruit for the granola and yogurt or french toast.

The soup is vegetable and dill. God it smellls good, like summers last gasp.

The muffins are banana and fruit fly. Just kidding, they're all dead now too. I saw a wasp stagger across the window on the back door yesterday all cold and drained of energy, I killed him with the corner of a napkin. Looked him right in the eye first too, the f**ker!

Well that's about it, we have a fresh batch of Hildy's walnut brownies and our coffee is the best this side of Parliament. Take a hint.

Friday, October 01, 2004

Hey! Check it out! We've finally figured out how to use the picture page! Now hopefully we will update it on a regular basis (unlike the movie!).

So it's Friday and you lucky people get to have the weekend off. You should go and check out the International Art Fair down at the Convention Centre.

Friday's omelette is sauteed leek and cheddar.

Fritag's muffin is chocolate chip and almond.

Vendredi's soup is the white bean and kale.

We have the delicious spicy roast beef sandwich with mango mustard on a toasted ciabatta bun with soup or salad for $7.00.

Oui, oui! We still have some @#%!* yummy chocolate and walnut brownies!

Did you know that you only have 85 shopping days left until Christmas!!!!!!!!
