Yay! Today is our last day! We officially start our vacation around 4:30 this afternoon! So I will just take this opportunity to apologize in advance for any mistakes you may encounter if you should come in for some food. (My brain has been in vacation mode since the beginning of the week.) Just ask the women at Mima's from across the street!
So we have sold out of the zucchini muffins.
The omelette is zucchini and havarti and the soup today is gazpacho! Yes, again! Cut us some slack, we are going to be closed for the week and I warned you that we are getting lazy!
You guessed it, the croque monsieur has been our special of the week! I'm sure you can tell by now that we are much in need of this time off to recharge and come back with some energy to make soups other than gazpacho!
Have a fabulous long weekend everyone and we will see you back on August 7th!

Happy belated birthday to you!
Happy belated birthday to you!
Happy belated birthday dear Dougie!
Happy belated birthday to youuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuu!
We hope you are having a wonderfully relaxing vacation in Newfoundland. So what have you been doing? Eating lots of seafood? See any good live music? How 'bout the birds? What are they like? How's the weather? Today we woke up to fog. I almost wiped out on my bike again (and smashed up the other side of my face) on my way to work this morning! No! I still haven't bought a helmut, but I have a list of excuses!
So in honour of your belated birthday I'm going to play Postal Service all day! (just like during the renovations!)
In honour of your belated birthday I will eat Dubstyles all day! (My naturopath will not be pleased! But what is a gal to do when it is in honour of your belated birthday!
In honour of your belated birthday James will be drinking gin and tonics all day in the kitchen (and putting some extra love in the cooking!!)
In honour of your belated birthday we are going to drive to Kitchener, get our hair cut and drive back this evening!
In honour of your belated birthday we will then watch the entire 1st season of Six Feet Under and fall asleep on the couch!
In honour of your belated birthday we will sit around and talk about how it just isn't the same without you stopping by and saying hi. Good thing you will be home soon. Things seem a little out of sorts without you! See you soon Doug!
In honour of Dougs birthday our omelette today is fresh tomato, herbs and brie.
The muffins are blueberry.
The soup today is gazpacho (we are getting very lazy because we are going on vacation on Saturday)
We also have a croque monsieur with soup for $6.00.
Don't forget that we will be closed from July 31-Aug 6.
Happy belated birthday Doug! I think we should close early today in honour of your belated birthday!!!!!!

So we've come up with a new game here at Morning Glory! It's called "guess what country is on Heidi's face"! Some say I look like I could be related to Gorbachev! Oh the fun never ends!
I'm in the kitchen today and the absent minded waitress is working the floor. She refuses to take my terminating her seriously! I could think of a few other words to describe her!!!!! I'm just teasing! I love having Michele here and it will be a sad day when she heads back to Ottawa to push some paper for the Government. I know you will miss the days you spent with us at the restaurant. Don't worry because if you should decide to leave you will always have a place here waiting for you.
I'm starting to get a little sappy so I shall let the absent minded waitress tell you about our specials today.
Thank goodness I caught Heidi in the act of starting up some slanderous words again, so I kinda pulled a mafia type move and held a knife (dull and plastic for any authorities out there listening in on the ait waves, i.e. John & Kirsten) and completely changed the tone of her note. Naturally I let her have creative control, my one criteria was to please be nice! I am pleased to say that is exactly what she was! Wow Heidi is a real sweetie, a kind heart, a kindred spirit. Natch I have no idea what will happen the next time I am not around standing over her with a plastic couteau but for the moment Heidi is a pretty darn cool friend who brought a tear to my eye! So stop the silly boring sappy words and get on with the specials....
Fresh homegrown Ontario mystifying BLUEBERRY PANCAKES
Superb also fresh homegrown Ontario STRAWBERRY MUFFINS
Beautifuly blanched BROCCOLI & CHEDDAR OMLETTE
Wishing y'all a great day! Think of the great friends we are lucky enough to have and then play a wicked practical joke on them to let them know you care!
Best,
michele

Top of the morning to you all!
So it looks like as of today (as I just noticed from Heidi's message) I am again unemployed and looking for a job! Good thing my spirits are up and I choose to ignore Heidi's menacing words. Silly rabbit Heidi, I need a formal letter of restraint to keep me away from this place! But hey... if anyone has any part time cool cat job for me I may be interested depending upon my uncertain future here at the suddely not so glorious morning of potential unemployment. I am an events planner at heart (somewhat of a genius if I do say so myself (aside: the self confidence classes are really helping!)) but would be interested in any flashy fun advertising, publicity job, interior designer (as I feel I could do that), graphic design, or a window designer! Heck ya, those all sound like great fun! May consider being the taste tester of fine Belgium chocolates, or the hydro meter reader (by boat) in cottage country. So as you can see my talents are rather impressive.
Speaking of cottage country I have a secret for all you Morning Glory customers! This will save hours of headaches, agonizing stop and go traffic, road rage and needless loss of B vitamins. The magic hour to leave cottage country is 4 pm on Sunday, please do not share this with too many folk as this tip is meant for your ears or rather eyes only and we do not want to ruin it by telling the masses. Holy babbling this morning, must be me being nervous....think being fired was just a joke but not positive....anyone know any good shrinks?!
The specials of the day....
A delightful ARUGULA (thanks for the definition on that one James) & CHEDDAR OMLETTE
A French inspired CROQUE MONSIEUR served without attitude but along with a perfectly chilled GAZPACHO SOUP
Brilliantly baked BANANA MUFFINS
Big news, almost forgot... it is MOVIE NIGHT! Now playing 'The Big Lebowski' so bring your own lawn chairs, drinks, snacks and bug spray to Giliad Pl tonight at 8:30 ish. See you in the parking lot, weather permitting. Wishing you all a Happy Monday and don't forget to thank your employer for not being publically humiliated by being canned over the net!
The job search goes on....signing off the absent minded and canned waitress,
michele

Good Morning!
We've had a very busy morning so I will get right down to business.
The omelette today is zucchini, onion and cheddar.
The muffins are a delicious rasberry! (I just had one for breakfast along with 2 pieces of toast. Don't tell my naturopath!)
The soup is chilled red pepper and cucumber.
Hey Chris, Kate and Alex, we have a vegetarian sloppy joe on the menu today. Mushrooms and tvp on ciabatta bun served with soup or salad.
To Michele,
You're right, I will be looking for someone new to replace you. I'm sorry you had to find out this way. Don't bother coming in on Monday. We will manage fine without you!!!!!!!!!!!!
So I think that is all for now. Have a wonderful weekend. I'll be here all weekend so you should come in and say hello and get some crappy service from me. I'll probably be hung over on Saturday because I am going to go and see Camera Obscura tonight at the Horseshoe! Maybe I will even see you there!

Salut!
Okay, okay this is weird, a Thursday and the absent minded waitress is at Morning Glory, how fun! Normally I can only be found at 457 King Street East on Monday's & Tuesday's forgeting; if people prefer milk or cream with their coffee, to put the grounds in the coffee machine, and a plethora of other things that have slipped my mind. Thank goodness the owners are good natured and patient friends! Bet Heidi is now regretting the day in highschool when she spoke to me in Mrs Minardi's business class....it seemed so harmless at the time. Today's lesson: be careful who you befriend because the day when you open up a cool, hip restaurant in Toronto you may have to see them a few times a week being forgetful in your establishment. So anyone know where I can find some 'boost your self confidence' classes?
Enjoy the dog days of summer with.....
Delicious totally homemade 100% all natural CRANBERRY MUFFINS
A fabulous TOMATO, FRESH HERB, GRUYERE OMLETTE
Chilled CARROT ORANGE SOUP
May you have an eggs-ceptional day! Hope to see you soon!
Cheers,
michele

Goodmorning my fine feathered friends,
I have good news, no blunders...yet this morning! That means a full fledged dose of caffeine in your coffee and I think the amnesia has passed so your orders ought to be remembered and brought to you with efficiency and effectiveness. Egads, the double "e's" was that the public servant in me making an appearance?! scary.
So before I pass along the specials I shall update you... Heidi's face is healing well, movie night was a great success, James has whipped up another batch of to die for pancakes and the city sky is it's usual shade of ubiquitous smog grey. But alas it is summer and moods are light, enjoy!
The specials, (not of the musical variety) are...
Scandalously scrumptious STRAWBERRY PANCAKES, get them while they last!
ARUGULA & GOAT CHEESE OMLETTE, hey what exactly is arugula anyway?!
CARROT ORANGE SOUP, for something totally different, no joke!
CHOCOLATE CHIP WALNUT MUFFINS! Yay let's hear it for chocolate, yum!
signing off,
the slightly less absent minded waitress
Michele,
Arugula is the leaf from the dandelion.
James

Aloha,
It is another happy monday so that means you folk are stuck with me again, sorry. Luckily I do not appear in any kind of a strange mood and am controling my caffiene intake so other than oddly appearing and disappearing amnesia all should go well today. So far the morning was off to a great start as I forgot to place the coffee grounds under the machine, so Morning Glory now has a new, totally healthy, totally natural clear and caffeine free brew! No worries it did not fly with the proprietors so you can get your usual morning waking coffee but the breakfast blunder can be ordered by special request.
The daily digs include...
An amazing arugula and gruyere omlette
Breezy chilled green onion, melon and ginger soup
Fresh clearly Canadian B.C. field blueberry muffins
Enjoy life! Have a fantastic summer day!

Top of the morning everyone!
It's a blizzardy cold day with wind gusts and a wind chill factor of -35, expect possible snow or freezing rain this afternoon.......actually I am experiencing heat shock, it is a scorcher here in the mega city. Who knows how long Heidi and I will last before the stunning and creative 'open' sign changes to 'close' and we are found comatose in the kitchen half eaten by wild dogs. Okay so we have all heard the last ditty of that line in one of the best movies of all time. Before I lose all my audience I'd better give you the specials....
Delightful Blueberry Muffins
Bodacious Banana Pancakes
Scrumptious Chevre tomato & Basil Omlette
Discerning Mint Gazpacho Soup
Enjoying the challenge of serving solo and Heidi in the kitchen. James and I managed through the rush yesterday and I dare say had some fun at the same time! This place is great, so come on in read the communal paper and cool off sipping Heidi's homemade savory iced tea. If you see us being eaten by wild dogs through the window of the kitchen please call James before breaking a window to ensure it is covered in their pricey insurance. Thanks!
Happy Tuesday!

we are doing a club today, it's on baguette and comes with soup or salad
the soup is a new one, red pepper and red lentil
the muffins are banana
the omelette is roast vegetable and asiago
the weather looks fine but then it's just a state of mind
we also have a bacon, brie and caramelized onion sandwich on ciabatta bun. If you want a vegetarian version ask for it without flavour. Just kidding, I can replace the bacon with pear or apple.
Heidi's face is healing well, and her ego seems to be rebounding nicely too.

Bonjour tout le monde!
Another fine Torontonian morning... lovely sunshine, decent temperature and only mild hazy smog. Let the sunshine in and enjoy the delightful morning temptations at 457 King Street East!
Today's specials include...
Delightful blueberry pancakes
Savoury chickpea masala soup
Homegrown fresh Ontario asparagus and Havarti cheese omlette
Sumptuous pear, caramelized onion and Brie on a perfectly toasted fresh baguette with your choice of soup or salad
All served in a peaceful, laid back atmosphere with occasional rays of sunshine dancing on the tables, a light breeze sweeping through the restaurant, cool tunes eminating from the music box and a new waitress trying her best to be polite and attentive but not suffocating and overbearing. So whereever you are and what ever you are doing have a wonderful day and do not bother trying to replicate the delicious pancake batter, just come on down on Tuesdays, it's sinfully delicious. Anyone caught in that disasterous traffic coming into the city on Sunday deserves to be pampered all week long. Egads that was t-rubble!
Cheers,
