yesterday I burnt the salad. At least the meat came out all right. It's a little strange being back after being sick for a couple of days. But I'm all right now, in fact it's a gas. Must have been the burnt salad.
the omelet today is fresh zucchini and asiago(hey that’s A to Z on the ingredients list)
the muffins are lemon
the soup is carrot
the chatter is idle
the special is warm roast beef with sautéed onions on a toasted bun. It comes with a side of German potato salad.
If anyone is wondering how Tommo is doing we don’t know. I suspect he’s been abducted by a Belgian circus, lured in by tall tales of meeting Tin-tin in the flesh and all the lager he can drink. I suspect the French will make a children’s puppet show about it, they like those kidnappy sort of tales. Remember Jeremy?

Happy Pancake Tuesday! Yes, we are desperate for a day of celebration. Got squat for Valentine's Day and now I shall eat pancakes with the desperation of a woman denied...Heidi's recipe makes it hard to say no.
Soup today is butternut squash, muffins are spiced pear and our omelette is chevre and red pepper.
To the good neighbour, whoever you are, thank you so much for shovelling our sidewalk. We arrived at seven to a clear path. Thanks.
Yes, wonderful things do happen in this city all the time.

Good Morning! Martina here...am walking like an old woman today after spending yesterday in the kitchen. We had a killer Sunday (thanks to everyone who came in to dine!). One of our best days ever. And our bodies are showing it.
Heidi has made her fabulous blueberry muffins and the omelette today is havarti and chives. Our soup is roasted garlic. That is about it for today. Enjoy the sun!

I’m sitting here at table #8 eating a cheddar and spring onion omelet, drinking a cup of black coffee and watching Jack carry boxes and furniture down from his apartment. I offered him coffee and breakfast but he say’s he’s on an adrenaline rush. If that’s him on a rush, he still looks like he’s ready to go back to bed. I shouldn’t poke fun, he lent me his car this morning.
I had to run home and get some lettuce we were storing there. I meant to bring it in with me when I walked to work but I forgot. You know that feeling when you leave the apartment and think you’ve forgotten something but think it’s just that you opted to not wear a sweater? Well in this case it was the lettuce.
Martina made two kinds of muffins today, banana/walnut and chocolate-chip.
We are continuing the croque monsieur today, and probably all weekend.
Speaking of the French and ham. Our Tommo is off to the French Alps today for a week of snowboarding and hand jobs in hot-tubs. Lucky Pierre! (Pierre being the garcon that cleans said hot-tub, la tub chaud?) and bon voyage Tommo!
The soup is minestrone.
I shall report later with our food plans for the weekend
PS it was nice to see Emily and her friends in here yesterday. Makes me think of Ian and how I never call him. I never call anyone. I’m a jackass
PPS hey it’s snowing!

Yahoo! It's Friday!!!!!!
No, I'm not crazy....yet (but I must admit that I'm well on my way!)! We are closed tomorow so I'm going to go out and get drunk tonight! Any of you working folks want to join me?
Enough with my nonsense!
The omelette today is sauteed zucchini, onion and gruyere.
We have a roasted red pepper soup and blueberry muffins.
For the one person that is interested in Tommo's love life: our little Tommo will be away for 2 weeks this Friday so you will have to be patient. I'm sure we will have many interesting things to tell you when he gets back.

DAS BLOG
Ve haf ze muffenz. Und zey said I vas der krazy mit ze chocolate und mango in ze muffen! Ahahahahahahaha! Der mango/chocolate muffin ist der greatest muffin in der vorld!
actualy I only made one and I ate it. I'll make them again.
The omelete today is avocado, green onion and cheddar. I know I know it sounds strange to some of the less adventurous people in the MG organization but Craig(our neigbor and omelete fan) has already confirmed what I already knew, I'm a genius. Ahahahahahaha
The soup is lentil, and very very good. Martina has out done herself again.
Heidi is making me work the floor while she cooks. It's good for me to get out of the kitchen, a genius must rest some time. Ahahahahahaha
I'm scared...has anyone ever seen me try to make change?

today is Friday the 13. Big deal. Tomorrow is Valentines day which means I shall be scrambling to find a suitable gift for the missus while our single friends will be curled up in fetal positions and weeping gently to themselves, how I envy them.
The club special is still on and selling well, so I'll keep it going all weekend.
We have two kinds of muffins today! Chocolate chip AND blueberry, outrageous.
Nevermind about the omelete. We only sold one yesterday, to Craig, so that doesn't even count because Craig only eats the omeletes.
The cabbage and dill soup is back, it's one of my favourites.
So San Remo is in Italy, there is a bike race there and it's independent of Italy.
Strawberry Shortcake is down and out and living at the San Remo hotel in Vegas, propping up the bar with Holly Hobby and one of those monkees with the pacifiers or sitting in her room gazing blankly at the dead chia pet on the window sill.
I would also like to say thanks to Cindy my friend in California and all the gang at Intersound for the lovely birthday present(it finaly made its way here in a very roundabout way). I can't wait untill your next trip to Toronto. Hopefully we won't have the avian flu and John Ashcroft won't have closed the borders to keep out all that pot and liberalism.

Thanks for letting me know where San Remo is.
Sorry, Tommo only one MG patron is interested in your love life and I think she's just being polite.
I knew the Smurfs would be up to no good and same with those shifty My Little Ponies. Can't trust a transient equine.
Dear Morning Glory Cafe,
Sadly no one is interested in Tommo's love life.
In North America there is a San Remo hotel in Las Vegas as well as San Francisco. In the European continent I believe there is a San Remo (town/city) in Italy, I think on the Italian riviera.
Yours Truly,
A Patron
San Remo? San Remo is in Italy. The classic of all Italian classic races
is from Milan - San Remo.
Is that the San Remo you're talking about?
I am definitely interested in Tommo's love life.
.....R
OK, so I don't really know where San Remo is (aside from probably in California...)
but my assumption is this... Strawberry Shortcake and Holly Hobby are getting all messed up in San Remo! and the smurfs are their dealers!!
it's such a shame when good characters turn like that... well, live and learn, and try to avoid getting caught!!
anyway, thanks for the mg news... I'm enjoying reading about the yummy stuff at the love shack, and just wish I was closer so that I could actually enjoy eating the yummy stuff!! if you hear of any well-paying jobs nearby, please ask them to hire me!!!

my tribute to Valentines day is a club, with which to beat ourselves over...no I mean a club sandwich in which to feed ourselves in a romantic way. Is there anything more romantic than the union of bacon and chicken? Or Bacon and anything? Extra mayo and it gets downright racy(or saucy) between the slices. Those soft tasty slices of sesame bread, juicy ripe tomato and creamy butter....excuse me a sec'.
I have calmed myself
The omelete today is spinach and cheddar.
The muffins are strawberry. Ever wonder what happened to that Strawberry Shortcake character? I bet she hangs out in bars all drunk and f**ked up, with Holly Hobby.
The soup is Tuscan bean.
Can anyone tell me where San Remo is? The real one not the bakery on Royal York Rd. info@morningglory.ca
Is anyone really interested in Tommo's love life?

I haven't done this for a while...it is usually James or Heidi who fill you in on what 's up with the menu for the day. Here it goes...
omelette - asparagus tips and cheddar cheese
muffins - chocolate chip (Heidi has the winter blahs so there is more chocolate chip than muffin)
soup - cream of asparagus soup. yum. one of my better ones i think
We have chicken curry on today for six bucks you get a big hot bowl of curry and some toast to mop up the sauce. Delicious!
In honour of Valentine's Day Heidi is going to be making us some cream cheese cookies with icing...mmmmm. Sweets for the sweet.
Bye for now,
Martina

have been told that Peter, our coffee supplier, ships coffee to an Italian fashion designer working in Paris! I keep telling people we have the best coffee east of Parliament street and now, apparently west of Vienna.
So the butcher didn't have any emu sausages this weekend, I suppose they are still fattening the bird up. It gets it in the neck Tuesday so we should have fresh sausies Saturday!
Speaking of birds, Tommo came in for brunch on Saturday with a girl. She's very pretty and said she liked the music and the food. She said nothing about liking Tom.
This Thursday will mark Morning Glory's being open two whole months!
Holy shit, we own a restaurant!
People pay me to cook for them!
And what will I be cooking today? Well, the omelet is fresh red pepper and that cheese we cant seem to avoid. The muffins are blackberry and they make me think of England for some reason.(Excuse me, I think I need to be alone for a minute) The soup is roasted red pepper and we have some lovely Bavarian apple torte. I was trying to think of a witty way to work the word retort in there but no luck, I'll have to wait until we sell it again. Do Bavarians call it "Bavarian" apple torte or just "apple torte", well "apfel torte" anyway. Bayerischer apfel torte...that's a mouthful of cake.
I'm rambling, bye!

Martina made the omelette today and it is asiago cheese(I know I know but we have so damn much of it) with green onions and fresh herbs
Heidi made blueberry muffins
I made spicy bean and potato soup
Heidi's mom made her awesome chocolate banana cake AND a lemon pound cake (Tommo we'll try and save you a slice for Saturday when you bring that girl you met on the...sorry, I should probably have left that off the world wide web but I've already posted this!)
EAT A BREAKFAST BUTTY EVERYONE!
I swear to god I'm going to take it off the menu, it's to good to just be eaten by a select few fans.
Oh yeah the sauted chicken sarnie special is still on.

Butterscotch chip muffins! Yum Yum!!!
Tomato and fresh basil omelettes! Smells like summer and tastes like it too!!!!!
Borscht soup garnished with sour creme and dill! I love the colour, it's so pretty.
For the first time ever a chicken pasta salad and for you veggies out there you can have it without the bird!
Rented About Schmidt last night. It made me cry. BTW this is Heidi typing.
Had a bowl of cherries and I'm paying for it today!
