Saw the movie Something's Gotta Give last night with Renee. It was cute but I don't think it was Golden Globe material for Diane Keaton. Yes folks, I am moonlighting now as a movie critic!!
So I'll get down to business!
The omelette is zucchini, onion and asiago (you can have it without onion for those of you who aren't that fond of them!)
We have a lovely roasted red pepper soup that is garnished with yogurt!
I made the lightest zucchini and walnut muffins. I think they might be the best yet! I just had one for breakfast.
Oh yes! We are running the awesome chicken sangwich again with a side of potato salad.
Stay warm today and take a cab to our fine establishment for some good food!
I'm going to see my first basketball game ever tonight! I hope I don't over heat in my long johns!
This is Heidi saying have a good weekend!

great sandwich special this week, sauted chicken breast on a toasted bun with avocado, fried onions, lettuce tomato and my homemade SouthWestern sauce. If you're wondering what that means, so am I. I've never been to the SouthWest of anywhere, but it's what I've heard their sauces are like.

havarti and chive omelete, butternut squash soup and mango-honeydew muffins.

what a beautiful snowy day in which I don't have to drive in. Instead I'm in here surrounded by the lovely odours emanating from our kitchen. Fresh baked bread, chocolate-chip muffins also just out of the oven. Roast garlic and bean soup, bacon, coffee and still that smell of wet dog in the cupboard under the stairs, weird.
if anyone reading this hasn't tried our breakfast-butty you should. Bacon, scrambled eggs, tomato and the usual morning glory fixings on a toasted bun. $4!

Okay I’ll admit the prospect of getting BSE is scary, but it’s also extremely rare that one might contact it (Mmmm, rare!) So I’m taking advantage of the drop in the price of beef and I plan to live like a Bay Street capitalist. Steak, roast beef everyday ‘till either the revolution comes or I’m found face down in the garlic mashed potatoes drooling like an idiot. Perhaps both, I’ll take my chances.
Omelet- sautéed zucchini and onions and asiago cheese
Soup-tomato
Muffin-spiced pear
Sandwich-roast beef on a toasted bun with napa salad SIX BUCKS! Now that’s madness

its Thursday January 22
It's cold but sunny and we had some flurries in the morning.
on the sandwich front we have a delicious roast beef on a bun with grainy mustard and a side of nappa coleslaw.
the muffins are those ridiculously good zucchini ones!
the omelet is zucchini and onion
we now have a breakfast bun for those on the run (that was actually an unintentional alliteration)
the coffee is still the best, this side of parliament!
no gnews is good gnews

Good morning!
We've had a busy morning with the debut of our breakfast bun! Breakfast bun You ask? Well, it has scrammy eggs, 2 strips of bacon, tomato and our homemade ketchup and aioli for $4.00.
The omelette today is tomato, chive and cheddar.
We have asparagus soup and cranberry/lemon muffins.
James has the day off today. We're going to go and see Big Fish tonight at the rainbow cinema. Did you know that 2 people can see a movie there on tuesday nights for $8.50!?! It reminds me of being a youth in the eighties! I'm so old!
So the sun is out today and you need at least five minutes so don't forget! Fight those winter blahs!

Happy monday!? Thursday was my first blog ever and now I'm going to do my second one! How exciting! You should feel special about being part of my new found interest in blogging. I used to call it begoogling because blog was hard for me to remember!!!!
The weekend was kinda quiet. Renee is still our best customer! I happened to tell Craig (used to be our best but is now our second best customer) and he seemed a little dissapointed that he is no longer the best. Anyways, thanx for bringing in the Wanners, they are so cute!
I made chocolatey choco chip muffins from scratch! I know I'll end up eating all of them if we don't sell them today! We're on this mushroom kick so I'm sure you can guess that the omelette is mushroom and arugula. I had bacon and eggs and rosti for breakfast. Our eggs are sooooo tasty! I could eat them all day.
The soup is french onion made with vegetable stock that I made from scratch! For those of you in the know, we will be experimenting with grilled cheese. So come on in and be our lab rats!
Well my blog has turned into a blab! I shall let all of you carry on with your work!
Hope to see some of you later.
I got bangs for the first time since highschool! It feels weird.

Ugh, so cold my fingers haven't defrosted yet...
Made spiced pear muffins this morning. We have Roasted Buttercup Squash (yes, buttercup not butternut) Soup. Flavoured it with a snippet of rosemary from the plant we got as an opening day gift! The omelette filling is King Oyster Mushroom and Shallots. Yum!
James is working on a curried chicken sandwich for the weekend.

It's crazy cold outside today! Minus 39!!!!!!!!!!!! Surprisingly we have had some customers already and we only have one lemon/mango muffin left!
The omelette is oyster mushroom and spring onion. I had it on some bread and it was delish! James has the day off today in case you are wondering about the choice of words.
I can't wait for minus one temps! Stay warm today and wear a hat! I see way too many people out there with no hats on. That's just nonsense! Come in and have some of our garden vegetable soup. My feet are numb!
Dear Doug, if you happen to be reading this, I owe you some money. I have a hard time hearing with the fans going in the kitchen. If the truth must be know I generally don't function to well before 10 am!
Have a wonderful day today and don't forget to get your daily dose of sun!

i found a potato today that looked like a penis! It was an amazing specimen both in size and girth. Looked just like a baby's arm holding a...potato!
Tubers are filthy as are most vegetables
Tubers are filthy as are most vegetables
Monday and the specials are:
Soup-potato and dill
Omelet-tomato, fresh herbs and asiago
Muffins-spiced pear (I know we had those on Friday but, we didn’t sell any Friday because the damn pipes were frozen!)
NB. These are a fresh batch not the leftovers from Friday
What an eventful few days it’s been. We came in Friday to frozen pipes and didn’t sort it out and get open until almost noon. Big thanks to our man Mathew Trace, the most excellent plumber! Anyone need a plumber? Email me for his number, he’s very good and even though he looks sixteen he assures us he’s actually twenty-six and fearless.
We came in Saturday to frozen pipes again! This time the freeze up was some where between the basement and our espresso maker, it was more horrible than Friday! Imagine its minus thirty out there and we can’t offer anyone a latte or hot chocolate.
Christ, I’ll never get this written if I have to keep getting up to cook!
I’d like to say thanks to Renee for consistently dragging people in here for lunch. Renee is like our unofficial public relations director
Tommo you’re fired, a formal letter is in the mail.
We had a brush with celebrity on Sunday, Amanda Marshall came in looked at the menu and left. I’m not entirely sure it was her but Heidi and Martina maintain it was. She has nice hair and teeth like celebrities do and apparently her boots were too expensive for just normal hipsters.
Our neighbor at Metalleather has a band called Raw Dog (I think they are called that, it’s on the back of their jackets) they come in for coffee.
i think the omelet tomorrow will be zucchini and asiago. We like the asiago around here and we bought far too many zucs last week. Hmmm, maybe Martina could make zucchini muffins.

we're closed temporarily today. this bloody cold weather has frozen our water pipes. i'm trying to fix the problem but we may not be open untill lunch.
IN CASE we do open here are the specials
muffins-spiced pear
omelette-roasted red pepper and asiago cheese
soup-mexican tomato and bean
today reminds me of the renovation period leading up to our opening, only colder, much colder. i even tried to blame it on the city as i'm used to doing that. i really dislike it when they(the city) are actually right.

january 2!
today's muffins are chocolate chip!
soup is roasted red pepper, and the omelette is grilled endive with swiss gruyere cheese
on a personal note i'd just like to say happy new year! i'm glad the holidays are over and we can all settle down into a routine. i have to admit i did have fun over the holidays and got plenty of rest. i got a down pillow wich is very nice, so nice that heidi keeps trying to switch it with hers-but i know what she's up to! i know the cats are in on it too, i've seen the way boo-boo looks at me when i get up in the morning.
maybe i'm paranoid
anybody have any good ideas for kumquats? no, really i need ideas.
